Defence Minister Peter Dutton has flagged Australia playing some role in supporting Ukraine if it is attacked by Russia.
Mr Dutton told Today that conflict in Ukraine seems inevitable but has insisted that Australia will not be committing armed forces on the ground.
“Troops continue to build up, the presence of the shifts in the Black Sea, the cyber attacks, the false flag activity, it is all pointing in one direction sadly,” Mr Dutton said.
“Australia’s not committing troops, we have been clear about that. We are not sending troops to Ukraine.
“But there are ways in which we can provide assistance and there may be some cyber activities that we are able to support. It may be the case that we are able to send some support otherwise to Ukraine, but we will assess that as it unfolds.”
